3 Players Who Could Serve As Driving Force in Ralf Rangnick Counter-Pressing System of Play

After sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer because of the poor run of form this season, Manchester United decided to appoint German tactician Ralf Rangnick to put things right in Old Trafford. Although Michael Carrick was appointed the caretaker manager, and the last three games were very good and impressive for the Red Devils.

Carrick took the team to Spain where they beat Villarreal to make it to the UEFA Champions League knockout stage. He also got an important draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before the latest win against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Rangnick will now take charge of the team against Crystal Palace, and he’s tipped to inculcate his playing style as soon as he steps into the training ground.

Here are three players who will serve as a driving force or engine room for the counter-press system playing.

Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, and Fred.

The trio was very impressive last night as Manchester United played a high-line formation against Arsenal. The trio alongside Jadon Sancho pressed from the front to the midfield, and that’s the secret behind Manchester United winning the ball very fast whenever they lose possession.

Rangnick is the father of counter-pressing and Gengenpress, and with the performance of these three players, I believe they are going to be the engine room behind the counter-pressing system of play.
