In this article, we’ll be looking at possible ways the German tactician could set up his defense next season. Let’s have a look:

Option A
The first option available for the German tactician is to stick with the defensive setup he used for most of last season, that is, the trio of Rudiger, Silva, and Azpilicueta.

In this case, Rudiger would play as a left center-back while Thiago Silva and Azpilicueta play in the middle and right center-back positions respectively.

Kurt Zouma is also an option for the Blues in center-defense.

Option B
Another option available for Thomas Tuchel is to play with a back-four.

In this setup, Reece James and Ben Chilwell could occupy the full-back positions while Cesar Azpilicueta forms a central defensive partnership with Andreas Christensen.

Option C
According to various media reports, Chelsea is still interested in getting the signature of Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

If the Frenchman eventually comes, he could form a central defensive partnership with Thiago Silva while Reece James and Marcus Alonso occupy the right-back and left-back positions respectively.

Emerson Palmieri is another option available for Thomas Tuchel in the right-back position.

Which of these options do you think Thomas Tuchel will use next season?
