Arsenal Transfer Failure This Summer Which They Might End Up Regretting

Arsenal have been very busy in the ongoing transfer window trying to recruit new players. The club manager has already expressed his intentions of rebuilding Arsenal and, as such, new faces are expected to join the club and some Arsenal players could go through the exit door.

These intentions have been reflected in the manner in which Arsenal are carrying out their summer transfer business. Arsenal is among the most active English Premier League clubs in the ongoing summer transfer business.

Arsenal have successfully signed Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Taraves, Ben White, and Mika Biereth from Anderlecht, Benfica, Brighton, and Fulham respectively.

Nevertheless, even with the successful completion of the signing of the above players, Arsenal have made some mistakes in the ongoing summer transfer that I think will later backfire on them as the new English premier league begins.

The transfer mistake Arsenal made, which I think they would later regret, was not signing midfielder Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City. It is well known that Arsenal have lacked a proven playmaker at the Emirates ever since the departure of Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal found it difficult to score goals last season because they didn’t have someone who could always create those necessary killer passes. They missed out on signing Buendia after failing to match Norwich’s asking price. Arsenal and Aston Villa both submitted a first bid of £30m to Norwich City for Emiliano Buendia, which was rejected. However, Aston Villa returned back with an improved offer which is reportedly said to be around £35m and it was accepted by the Canaries.

It still surprises me how Arsenal could actually allow Emiliano Buendia to slip off their hands. Knowing that they are in need of a playermaker and they had the opportunity to sign someone who created the most chances in Europe in the just concluded 2020/21 season and throwing it away is not a wise decision.

Judging by Emiliano Buendia’s statistics from last season, do you think Arsenal actually made the right decision?
