Barcelona reach agreement to sell Star striker but player refuses to leave
According to RAC1’s Gerard Romero, Barcelona have encountered a fresh stumbling block in the operation of Martin Braithwaite’s exit.
The Blaugrana had already agreed to transfer the Danish striker to a foreign team for a sum of 15 million Euros. In a recent turn of events, however, Denmark international has reportedly changed his mind, The No.9 now believes he can push for a place in Ronald Koeman’s team. The departure of Lionel Messi has only made it simpler for the striker to establish himself.
Braithwaite has two goals in two preseason games. The most recent goal was a powerful header from a set-piece against Juventus, which may do wonders for the striker’s confidence, The Dane’s status was sky-high after a terrific tournament with his national team last month. Given their financial difficulties, Barcelona prioritized his transfer and deemed him one of their most marketable assets.
Despite Messi’s departure, Barcelona still need a 25% pay cut in order to register their new players. The Board is under tremendous pressure to find fresh solutions now that Braithwaite has decided to fight for his place and has refused to go. Meanwhile, Braithwaite will have a perfect opportunity to establish his value in the coming weeks, since Sergio Aguero will be out for the first 3-4 weeks due to an injury.
Because Ansu Fati isn’t ready to play yet, Koeman may be obliged to start the Danish forward. However, the club will continue to run an operation to attempt to make his departure possible.
