Champions League defending champions Chelsea have had a silent transfer window this summer as they have only signed Romelu Lukaku and Bettineli but the Blues have made some late inroads on deadline day.
Tuchel was thought to be keen on signing a new central midfielder and had earmarked Spain and Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez as a possible addition to their squad.
The deal to sign Niguez was thought to have collapsed but a deadline day move for the player sees the Stamford bridge-based outfit sign a midfielder who is thought could be a dream partner for N’Golo Kante.
Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano who is privy to all transfer activities has revealed that the Blues have reached an agreement to sign Niguez on a season loan long deal with an option to buy.
“Saúl to Chelsea, HERE WE GO! Agreement reached for €5m loan from Atletico Madrid. Personal terms agreed. Saúl will be in London soon to sign the contract. Final details and the deal will be announced. Difficult deal but finally set to be completed.” Romano tweeted.
It however remains unclear if the Blues will be able to sign their other top target in Sevilla center-back Jules Kounde after the Spanish outfit told Chelsea that they had left it late to sign the player and could struggle to get a replacement on the final day.
