The league cup quarter-final ties have finally been released, as Thomas Tuchel’s men get a difficult away fixture to navigate before they can advance to the next round. The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester city, Tottenham, Brentford, Arsenal, Sunderland and West ham United all booked their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final during the week with victories of different kind.

Chelsea overcame Southampton on penalties on Tuesday, while Arsenal defeated Leeds United by a score line of 2goals to nill. Liverpool continued their impressive away form at Preston, courtesy of goals from Takunmi Minamino and Divock Origi. Leicester City and West ham United secured their place in the last eight by defeating Brighton and Hove Albion and Manchester City respectively. Tottenham defeated Burnley at Turf Moor, while Sunderland also defeated fellow Championship club, QPR, on penalties.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have won four of the last Carabao Cup title but were defeated by West ham United on penalties, paving the way for other teams to have a shot at the title. The quarter-final ties will be played the week commencing 20 December this year. Four round of fixtures will be taken in the round between eight teams.

The quarter-final draw pitted Tottenham against West ham United, with the fixtures set to be played at Tottenham stadium. Arsenal will play host to Sunderland at the Emirates stadium, while Liverpool will entertain Brendan Rodger’s Leicester City at Anfield. Thomas Tuchel and his men face a daunting task as they are set to visit Thomas Frank’s Brentford in the other fixture of the round.

The draw for the Semi-final will be made after the quarter-final matches are played, while the final will take place at Wembley in February next year. Liverpool will be hoping to make it to the final of the competition for the first time in years, and will be hoping to win it for a record ninth time, having won it on a record 8times before, level with City.
