Manchester United entertain Atalanta in Wednesday’s Champions League group stage clash.

The Red Devils recently went winless for a third-straight Premier League game after a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City.

They will be keen to make amends against Atalanta tomorrow, but it won’t be a straightforward task for them.

The Bergamo-based club play an exciting brand of attacking football, and the Red Devils can’t take them lightly.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

David de Gea has excelled between the sticks this term with several key saves. He singlehandedly kept United in the game against the Foxes in the second half before they slumped to a disappointing defeat. He is expected to start in goal ahead of Dean Henderson.

Varane continues to remain sidelined with a groin injury. The backline should remain identical to the weekend’s game. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is available for selection in Europe after his two-match ban was halved with a successful UEFA appeal.

He should start in the right-back role with Luke Shaw on the opposite end. Victor Lindelof appears set to partner Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence once more.

Maguire had an indifferent start to the season, and he was average against the Foxes. He looked far from match fit after a three-week absence with a calf problem.

Despite this, it appears that the club-captain will start tomorrow ahead of Eric Bailly. In his pre-match comments, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that the defender is ‘good to go‘ for the game.

Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba were paired in midfield, and the decision failed to work out. Time and time again, the duo offered space behind them that was capitalised by Youri Tielemans.

Matic’s limited mobility is a concern, and he could be replaced by either Scott McTominay or Fred. The latter could get the nod. The Brazilian was unavailable last weekend after arriving late from international duty.

Further forward, Marcus Rashford should start ahead of Jadon Sancho on the left-wing after excelling his first appearance of the campaign at the King Power Stadium.

He bagged the equaliser to make it 2-2 after coming off the bench, but it was insufficient in the end. The England international looked lively with his cameo, and should now make the XI.

The rest of the attack could remain unchanged. Mason Greenwood grabbed one of his best-ever goals against the Foxes with a sublime strike from the edge of the box.

The United graduate is likely to continue on the right-wing with Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 role. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo was largely ineffective last weekend with just one shot.

However, the Portuguese is still expected to lead the line over Edinson Cavani. He bagged a dramatic 95th-minute equaliser in the previous European outing against Villarreal.
