Chelsea Intensify Pre-season Training as 9 Stars Join the Team
Several first-team players of Chelsea are welcome back to the team at their Cobham training ground today as the blues started their second phase of the pre-season.
Thomas Tuchel has been with a group largely made of fringe players who spent last season out on loan. There are also academy graduates who are coming out of a long-term injuries and illnesses and some regular senior players like goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, Marcos Alonso, American Christian Pulisic, Moroccan Hakim Ziyech, and English duo of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham.
It was that group which went off to Ireland for pre-season training camp earlier this week. Players who got eliminated from the just concluded Euro 2020 at the round of 16 are to join up with the side at cobham.
Today, nine players made up of the likes of Germans Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Antonio Rudiger, Croatian Mateo Kovacic, and French duo of N’Golo Kante and Kurt Zouma. The other three were outside on loan last season.
These are Kenedy, who has been spending time in self-isolation for the past ten days, Tiemoue Bakayoko, who was on loan at Napoli last season, and Michy Batshuayi, who represented his nation, Belgium at the European Championship won by the Azzurri.
