Chelsea open talks to sign £68 million world class player
The blues are yet to bring in any major addition this summer as Thomas Tuchel side continues to endure a frustrating transfer window. Well all that looks bound to change soon as the blues have now officially opened talks to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
The blues have jumped ahead of fellow London rivals Tottenham in the race to sign the young French defender. Kounde looked set to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur last week, but now seems like he’ll be heading for the Stamford bridge staduim instead after talks between Chelsea and Sevilla progressing rapidly over the past few days.
Kounde is valued at a whooping £68 million by Sevilla who are looking to reap as much profit as they can from the 22 year old. Chelsea are reportedly looking for a way to bring down the price for the player and are thinking of including another French defender Kurt Zouma as a sweetner in the deal.
Kounde has risen to prominence since joining Sevilla from Bordeaux in 2019. The centreback has become one the most consistent defenders in the Spanish La liga while he has also forced himself into contention in the French national team.
The deal is expected to go through in the next few days with the player set to become Thomas Tuchel’s first major signing at the Stamford bridge staduim.
