Chelsea: The 11-man squad that could leave Stamford bridge after pre-season

Chelsea has over 40 players who can feature in different competitions for them. However, over 20 players have been in this team for 5 years but have not made first team appearance.

Thomas Tuchel added these players to his pre-season squad, the reason is to access their qualities and also select the ones who can get back to starting XI.

Chelsea are done with their pre-season games, they did not lose any match in the competition despite the high level of squad rotation Thomas Tuchel did. The lineup above shows the 11-man squad who could find their way out of Stamford Bridge. The players in this lineup did not impress in the pre-season games.

Starting from the defensive midfield positions, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko are seen here. Drinkwater did not perform poorly but age is almost against him, he is 31 years and might not play up to 3 more seasons if he gets into the starting XI.

Tiemoue Bakayoko could be labelled as ‘the worst Chelsea player’. He made lots of errors against Tottenham which made the fans to insult him. Bakayoko have failed to impress many managers and i guess it is time for Tuchel to take actions.

Michy Batsuayi, Kenedy and Charly Musonda are the next players in the lineup. Batsuayi was signed by Antonio Conte, he remains a Back-up striker because of his inability to impress the fans.

He is a good player but it does not look like he will fit into Tuchel’s pattern of play. Charly Musonda was also added to pre-season team, he made only one appearance before Covid-19 affected him.

Kenedy plays as a wing-back and also as a left winger, he made fewer appearances in the pre-season and did not put up an outstanding performance.

The last set of players here are Davide Zappacosta, Matt Miazga, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Chalobah and Baba Rahman. The players who did very in pre-season are Trevor Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-cheek, Armando Broja and Tino Anjorin.

Loftus-cheek seems to be the next player who could entire the starting XI, Tuchel made some comments about him. Armando Broja is another player who should also be promoted to the first team but Chelsea’s interest on Lukaku might cause problems for him

The blues might decide to send him out on loan since he is still a young player.
