Current EPL Golden Boot table after Lukaku’s goal yesterday
Yesterday, Romelu Lukaku finally broke his goal drought when he scored a powerful header against Aston Villa.
During the start of the season, Romelu Lukaku was touted by many as a possible winner of the Premier League Golden Boot award this season, however, it seems the Belgian International hasn’t performed up to expectations.
Here’s how the Premier League Golden Boot table looks like now:
1. Mo Salah
Sitting comfortably at the top of the table is Mo Salah, the Egyptian International has scored 15 goals in 18 Premier League appearances.
Apart from that, he has also registered 9 assists in his name.
2. Diogo Jota
Coming at the second position is another Liverpool star Diogo Jota. The Portuguese striker has scored 10 goals for Jurgen Klopp’s men so far this season.
3. Jamie Vardy
Coming at third place is a regular face in the Golden Boot place. It is Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.
In the 15 games he has played so far this season, the English star has netted 9 goals. He also has 1 assist to his name.
4. Emile Smith-Rowe, Son Heung-Min and Raphinha
The trio of Emile Smith-Rowe, Tottenham’s star Son and Leeds United maestro Raphinha jointly occupy the 4th position as they’ve all scored 8 goals in the league so far.
7- Dennis, Mason Mount, Antonio and Cristiano Ronaldo
There also seems to be a tough competition in the 7th position.
The quartet of Watford’s Dennis, Chelsea’s Mason Mount, West Ham’s Antonio and Manchester United’s star Cristiano Ronaldo have all scored the same amount of goals (7) this season.
Here’s an illustration of the Golden Boot table below:
Lukaku’s goal yesterday means he has scored 4 goals so far in the Premier League, if he builds on yesterday’s form, the Belgian International could return to competing with the ‘bigwigs’ in the upcoming weeks.
