EPL table After Today’s Matches As Chelsea Drops Points in Title Race


Gameweek 3 ( Day 1 ) of the English Premier League ended in a cool way as Liverpool were held to a draw by Chelsea at Anfield.

Chelsea started the match on the front foot, with Thomas Tuchel’s side dominating possession and causing all sorts of problems for Van Dijk and Joel Matip in Central defence. Chelsea got what they deserved on the 22nd minute, after a brilliant corner kick from England defender, Reece James who curled the ball unto Kai Havertz’s head, who headed the ball into the far bottom corner of Allison Becker’s net to make it 1-0 to the European Champions.

That goal was like a wake-up call for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who went on to press the Blues defence on numerous occasions, but they lacked the creativity in the final third. with Henderson and Harvey Elliott guilty of missed chances. But on the stroke of halftime, Liverpool got back on level terms, after a handball by Reece James in the Penalty area, which led to the Englishman being sent off by the referee after he reviewed the incident with the help of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and also awarded a spot-kick, which was coolly converted by Ex-Chelsea winger, Mohammed Salah to equalize.

Liverpool started the second half brightly with Jurgen Klopp making some attacking changes, Jurgen Klopp’s side could have taken the lead on the 61st minutes, with Fabinho testing Eduard Mendy from a far distance with a powerful shot, but it was parried away by the Senegalese goalie. Romelu Lukaku also had a big chance to score but his effort was well blocked by Joel Matip. Liverpool attacked and attacked but they couldn’t get the winning goal.
