Former Old Trafford Favourite Seeks New Challenge
Former Manchester United Right Back Rafael Da Silva has left turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir after spending just about one year at the club. The right back who signed for the club in September last year had agreed a 2-year contract with the club but terminated the contract after just one year after a mutual agreement with the club. The 31-year old has said in a statement that he desires a new challenge.
The former United right back has hinted at the possibility of joining twin brother Fabio Da Silva at Nantes in Ligue one. Rafael joined United in 2008 and became a fan favourite at the club due to several exploits he managed during his time there including the spectacular goal he scored against Liverpool. Rafael became the heir to then-departing right back Gary Neville and won four trophies with the club before leaving in 2015 after a fallout with former United Manager Louis Van Gaal.
