Thousands eagerly waiting as Messi lands at Le Bourget airport ahead of PSG medicals
It is no longer news that Lionel Messi, the man widely regarded as football’s G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time), has called it quits with FC Barcelona, where he has played for the past 21 years. The question, however, was his next destination as far as club football is concerned. Now, what started as mere speculation has metamorphosed into reality as it is quite clear, the 35-year old petit Argentine will be pitching his tent with French giants, Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
Fans gather outside Le Bourget Airport
Ahead of his medicals with PSG, Lionel Messi, the COPA AMERICA champion and erstwhile captain of the Blaugrana, has just touched grounds at Le Bourget airport, in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, about 10.6 Km away from the city centre.
Ecstatic Club supporters await Messi’s arrival
Meanwhile, thousands of Messi fans, as well as club supporters have gathered outside the airport, to welcome their soon-to-be signed talisman, who soon emerges, wearing a white T-shirt with the inscription: “Ici c’est Paris” which loosely translates: “This is Paris.” Messi is also seen waving for about 10 minutes at the jubilant crowd, who would be looking forward to a silverware-laden season ahead, with Leo on their team.

Leo, the man with the most Ballons d’or in football history, will look to set up a reunion with his old club mate, Neymar Jr, as well as build new friendships with other players, notably his old foe, Sergio Ramos, the Real Madrid former captain, who, for many years, stood tall like mount Kilimanjaro between Messi and Los Blanco’s goal.
It is now left to be seen what the terms of contract will be between him and his new employers, including his shirt number, as the famous number 10 is currently in the hands of wonder kid, Kylian Mbappé.
