How Tuchel Could Break Mourinho’s 2004/2005 EPL Record At Chelsea This Season.

How Tuchel Could Break Mourinho's 2004-2005 EPL Record At Chelsea This Season.

One major area blues head coach Thomas Tuchel has worked on greatly, since he joined Chelsea towards the end of January this year definitely has to be the club’s defensive set up.

The German tactician has successfully transformed a shaky Chelsea back line who were conceding goals for fun under Frank Lampard, to one of the best defense in Europe.

Courtesy of his 3-4-3 formation, Tuchel has been able to set up Chelsea in a way that opposition teams find it very difficult to penetrate.

This season alone, the blues are yet to concede a goal from open play across all competitions, and currently have the best defensive record in the premier league after five games.

Chelsea have kept an impressive 4 clean sheets in their opening five epl outings, with Liverpool being the only team to put a goal past them this campaign.

If Thomas Tuchel’s team keep up with such dominant defensive display, they could as well be on hand to break a long standing Epl record being held by former manager Jose Mourinho, during the 2004/2005 league campaign.

Recall that the blues under Mourinho conceded just 15 goals during the 04/05 Epl season which also saw them keep 25 clean sheets enroute to the premier league title.

Till date, the achievement of Jose Mourinho’s 2004/2005 team is the best defensive record in the history of the English premier league.

However with the way Tuchel’s Chelsea are proving very difficult to concede goals, they may just be that team that could eventually break the record which was set by their former manager.

Do you see Chelsea conceding less than 15 goals this season?
