Injury worry for Chelsea as star subbed off in first half vs Man City
The England international appeared to have a problem with his right ankle, but it’s unclear how serious the problem is or whether Thomas Tuchel took him off as a precaution.
Cesar Azpilicueta would most likely move from center defense to right-back after James was replaced by veteran defender Thiago Silva.
However, this is far from ideal for Chelsea, as they could do without missing James’ offensive threat from the right side for a lengthy period of time.
Azpilicueta is a dependable Chelsea servant, but he’s not the most attack-minded choice on the right flank, with the Spaniard best suited to a back three. Callum Hudson-Odoi might be another wing-back option, but he hasn’t seen much action under Tuchel.
