Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid duo Saul Niguez and Kieran Trippier once their deal for Raphael Varane is all wrapped up.

The Real Madrid star has been the subject of intense speculation for weeks, now. And a blockbuster move to Old Trafford is primed to take place.

Manchester United accelerated their pursuit of Varane over the weekend.

And they now have an agreement with both the 28-year-old and Real Madrid themselves, being poised to spend £34.2million initially and £42m in total should numerous add-ons be met.

However, United don’t intend to stop there.

They’re also looking to sign a right-back and midfielder this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer determined to guide his side to the Premier League title next term.

And the Daily Mail say they’re now eyeing Trippier and Saul, both of which would enhance the squad the Norwegian currently has at his disposal.

Trippier was a vital part of the England squad that made the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia three years ago.

And he’s gone from strength to strength ever since, helping the Three Lions make the final of Euro 2020 and also winning the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid.

Trippier is keen to make the move back to the Premier League after two years in sunny Spain, with United his dream destination.

He’d provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back, with his offensive attributes giving him an edge on the former Crystal Palace star.

However, Atletico will have to slash their price tag of £34m in order for a transfer to take place.

Regarding Saul, it’s said that United are interested in the Spain international as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba.

Pogba has been tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer as his contract winds down, with Paris Saint-Germain currently frontrunners in the race to snap him up.

Atletico are eager to get the midfielder off their wage bill this summer, the report states.

And they could accept an offer of £45m for the 26-year-old, who has also been linked with moves to Barcelona and Liverpool.

And it would be a sign the Glazers mean business, having been sparked into action by the European Super League debacle earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, regarding Varane, United legend Rio Ferdinand is thrilled about the imminent arrival of the Real Madrid star.

But he has raised one concern he has about the 2018 World Cup winner, who has won 18 major trophies throughout his time at the Bernabeu.

“On paper it looks a very, very good combination,” he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.

“But he’s got to understand the English game is very different. You’ve got to go to Burnley and places like that.

“Sometimes it can be up and at ’em, a different style of football in the Premier League to anything he’s played in before.

“Can he deal with it? They’re the questions he’s going to get asked.

“Balls getting wrapped around his ear holes, crosses from different angles that he hasn’t seen on a consistent basis in Spain where they play more on the floor, slower football, slower build up.

“So he’s going to be asked to defend in a different way and that’s where he’s going to have to show his real class, can he adapt? That”s the real question.

“I genuinely believe he’s got the tools to do that.”
