The 2021/22 football season has kicked off across the various countries in Europe, and without any reasonable doubt, the actions and performances so far have been fascinating and entertaining as well.
In this article, we will be looking at the players currently topping the goal scoring chart in the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga and German Bundesliga.
1. The English Premier League
The league started on the 11th of August, 2021, and currently all the 20 teams in the top-flight have played 3 matches each, with 35 matches remaining.
West Ham United’s Michail Antonio is the current top scorer in the league with 4 goals to his name. He has been arguably the brightest player in the country this season, having an additional 3 assists in just 3 games. West Ham sits second in the EPL table with 7 points, all thanks to Antonio’s brilliance.
On the second, third and fourth position on the log are Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Mason Greenwood respectively, with three goals each to their names.
2. The Spanish La Liga
With also three matches played this season, the race for the league’s golden boot has proven to be very competitive, with four players at the top of the chart having 3 goals each. Athletico Madrid’s Angel Correa tops the log, having one assist to his name. The other three players are Sevilla’s Erik Lamela, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior and Valencia’s Carlos Soler.
3. The German Bundesliga
The league commenced on good note this season, and so many players have been excellent in the aspect of banging in goals. Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski is on it again, topping the scoring chart with 5 goals in just 3 matches, helping Bayern Munich to occupy the third position on the table.
Other players on the top of the chart are Dortmund’s Erling Haaland with 3 goals and Union Berlin’s Taiwo Awoniyi with 3 goals also.
