Opinion: 5 Manchester United players who need to improve their performances in the 2021/22 season
Manchester United is getting ready to challenge Manchester City and other top Premier League clubs for the Premier League title in the 2021/22 season. Manchester United has already started improving their team as Sancho and Varane have already joined Manchester United from Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively. As Manchester United continues to rebuild their team, some old Manchester United players need to improve their performances in the 2021/22 season. In this article, we shall concentrate on five Manchester United players who need to improve in the forthcoming season.
1. Jesse Lingard:

Jesse Lingard is one of the Manchester United players who must work hard to improve on his performance for Manchester United. He performed brilliantly after joining West Ham on loan during the January transfer window. He scored a lot of goals and created some assists as West Ham qualified for the UEFA Europa League competition. Lingard looks set to play for Manchester United next season as West Ham doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere near making his loan spell permanent. If Lingard wants to establish himself as one of the main attackers in Manchester United, he must make sure that he shines for Manchester United as he did for West Ham United.
2. Donny van de Beek:

Donny van de Beek is a very good intelligent and creative midfielder. He had a fine career when he was playing for Ajax. When he joined Manchester United, a lot was expected of him. However, he has failed to impress millions of Manchester United fans and he hardly plays for the Manchester club. The 2021/22 season will be a fresh start for Donny van de Beek. Although he will find it difficult to play enough matches in a midfield that has Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba, he must be ready to take any opportunity that comes his way. He must improve on his willingness to tackle opposition players. He must improve his goalscoring record and creativity in the 2021/22 season.
3. Aaron Wan-Bissaka:

He has already shown that he is one of the best defenders in the Premier League. His ability to win back balls from his opponents is second to none. One a one-on-one situation, no other defender comes close to Wan-Bissaka. Although he is a very good defender, he needs to work on the attacking side of his football. He must improve his ability to deliver the ball into dangerous areas so that players like Cavani, Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes can score enough goals. He must also improve his goalscoring record in the coming season. Modern-day full-backs are expected to defend properly and also contribute to the team’s attack.

Fred is another Manchester United player who needs to improve their game during the 2021/22 season. Fred is known for his desire to work very hard for the team. However, working hard is not enough in modern-day football. A good player must learn how to merge hard work and intelligence so that he can become a world-class player. Fred needs to start playing intelligent football. He also needs to develop self-confidence. Fred is known for always making silly mistakes because he lacks self-confidence when playing football. If Fred can make some major improvements in his style of play, he will become valuable to Manchester United.

It is disheartening to see the level Anthony Martial has fallen to in the past two years of his career. Martial was once seen as the future of French football and the most vibrant Manchester United youngster. Martial is highly skillful but many pundits and football analysts agree that he lacks the right attitude which would have enabled him to excel in football. Martial should understand that he has all it takes to be at the level of Haaland and Mbappe, but he must develop the right attitude for him to get to that level. He needs to start working hard towards becoming the player he once was.
If all these Manchester United players can upgrade their performances, Manchester United can comfortably challenge for the Premier League title because their team will have enough depth.
