I was surfing the internet, and accidentally I came across an information which shows the security features in the 1,000 Naira note.
I was enthusiased and immediately, I researched more on the information.
The existence of the 1000 Naira note has eradicated all forms of bulkiness, while handling money, compared to the 90’s.
It has made transaction a bit mild, as it reduces the stress of carrying money, before the advent of the ATM.
The 1000 Naira note was precisely produced by the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN), on October 2005.
However, the money went in circulation rapidly, due to it’s usefulness.
The Central Bank of Nigeria deemed it fit to come up with some security features on the 1000 Naira.
This has helped to solve the problem of transacting with cloned or faked money.
The proactive step that was taken by the CBN has made her to deserve a kudos, probably an award.
In this article, I am going to be showing the list of security features that is embedded in the 1000 Naira note.
LIST OF SECURITY FEATURES IN THE 1000 NAIRA NOTE AS STATED BY CBN.
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria security features on the Naira, here are list of security features in the 1000 Naira note:
The security thread is the metallic strip on the back of the note. When tilted, the colour changes with the letters ‘ CBN ‘ visible.
When held against light, the strip will be as a continuous dark line, with the letters ‘ CBN ‘ more visible.
• Kinegram ( The Gold Foil):
This is on the front of the note with the coat of arms and the number ‘ 1000 ‘ which changes colour when tilted.
Similarly, the green triangle on the front of the note changes colour from green to blue when tilted.
There is a subtle shinny strip running down the back of the note. It is a shimmering gold colour, showing ” 1000 ” NAIRA.
• Scattered Fibres:
The 1000 Naira bank note paper has florescence scattered fibres, which appear red and blue under ultraviolet light ( UV light).
Similarly, it is possible to see the ‘ Black Serial Numbers ‘ with the naked eyes, but under ultraviolet light, the numbers fluoresces green.
Aside from the above hidden security features, here are some features that can easily be detected by human senses of organ.( Touch and visibility).
• Sensed by touch:
The raised print ( thick ink texture ) can be felt on the numerals ‘ 1000 ‘, the letters, the portraits and the building on the front of the note.
• Visible with the naked eye:
You can see a water mark in the pinkish area on the front of the note.
When held against light, the portraits of ‘ DR Clement Isong ‘ and ‘ Alhaji, Aliyu Mai – Bornu ‘ can be seen with the letters ‘CBN’ in the water mark.
Having embedded all these features in the 1000 Naira note, I think the CBN should be praised for it, in order to encourage them.
