Why Tammy Abraham Should Prioritize A Transfer To AS Roma Over Arsenal
Arsenal still has a lot of key positions to fill in the playing squad before the ongoing transfer window closes at the end of August. The Gunners still need to sign a central midfielder, a right-back, an attacking midfielder, and a backup goalkeeper.
So far, Arsenal has signed Nuno Tavares from Benfica FC for 8 million pounds, Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht for 17 million pounds and Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion for 50 million pounds.
Arsenal has also been linked with a transfer for Chelsea’s English striker Tammy Abraham. This means that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is concerned about the form and age of his current centre forward options Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
To sign Tammy Abraham, Arsenal would have to beat competition from AS Roma as the Italian club has also expressed interest in signing the young striker. But which club should Tammy Abraham prioritize? Should he make the move to Arsenal or AS Roma?
I think Tammy Abraham should prioritize a move to AS Roma over Arsenal due to the following reason.
When Thomas Tuchel arrived at Chelsea, he dropped Tammy Abraham from the starting 11, after some time he dropped him from his matchday squad altogether. Tammy Abraham was also ignored when England manager Gareth Southgate named his squad for the Euro 2020 tournament which was won by Italy.
It shows that Tammy Abraham still has some weaknesses in his game which he needs to improve on. He can only do this if given enough playing time. At Arsenal, he would have to compete with the likes of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for playing time.
If Tammy Abraham chooses to go to AS Roma, he would have the opportunity of playing under Jose Mourinho. A lot of famous strikers have improved their game while playing for the Portuguese manager. Good examples are Didier Drogba and Harry Kane.
Tammy Abraham needs to improve his game and Jose Mourinho is one of the most excellent coaches in that aspect. For this reason, I think a move to AS Roma would be better for Tammy Abraham rather than Arsenal.
