PSG deny reaching transfer agreement with Lionel Messi

After their owner’s half-brother appeared to suggest on social media that a deal had been finalised for Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain have denied that they had agreed terms with the Argentine.

After his contract with Barcelona expired at the last minute, the experienced forward has been heavily linked with a move to the Ligue 1 giants over the past two days.

On Friday, Khalid bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the half-brother of Qatar’s Emir and PSG’s owner, claimed that a deal had been reached for Messi, but the club has now categorically denied such allegations.

PSG’s communications department has told Goal that Al-Thani’s claims that a contract has been reached are false, as the club and Messi’s entourage have yet to reach an agreement.

Following speculations that the Argentine was closing in on a move to Parc des Princes, the 34-year-old took to Twitter to say that the two had settled their differences.

He had wrote, “Negotiations are officially completed.” “I’ll let you know later.”

Despite PSG’s denials, it appears that Messi will move to Paris next season, with few other realistic suitors in the race.
