Real Madrid interested in signing world class Chelsea defender this summer
The Spanish side are in search of a new central defender following the exit of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos at the club this summer. David Alaba have been brought in at the Santiago Bernabeu staduim, but Carlo Ancellotti’s side are still pushing for the signature of another experienced central defender.
The Los Blancos have now identified Chelsea defender Anthony Rudiger as one of their top targets this summer as they look to strengthen their defence. Rudiger’s current deal with Chelsea will expire next summer with talks over an extension said to have begun between both parties.
Real Madrid are however closely monitoring the player’s situation and would move in for the German should he fail to commit to fresh terms at the Stamford bridge staduim.
Rudiger has rejuvenated his career at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel having initially struggled to make an impact under Franck Lampard. The 29 year old played a prominent role in the heart of Chelsea’s defence as the Londoners secured the Uefa champions league last season.
Thomas Tuchel’s preference will be to keep his countryman at the club, but the idea of playing for Real Madrid might be too tempting for Rudiger to reject the Spanish club’s advances.
