The Old Trafford side added some players to their squad during the summer as they want to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea for trophies this season.
However, that has not quite worked out as planned just yet as Manchester United are currently occupying the 6th position on the Premier League table following their 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City on Saturday.
Coupled with their disappointing start to the season, Manchester United could now be rocked with reports that experienced central defender Phil Jones is in line to leave the club when the transfer window opens.
The 29-year-old England International, who joined Manchester United from Blackburn Rovers in 2011 has been a bit-part player in the first-team squad over the previous seasons.
Phil Jones has made over 150 appearances for Manchester United since he joined a decade ago, but he has since been suffering from varying injuries.
Phil Jones made no competitive appearance for Manchester United last season having failed to recover from the knee injury he sustained last year.
However, the experienced central defender is now back to full fitness and according to reports from Daily Mail, as many as thirteen football clubs are keen on signing him.
The reports further claimed that Newcastle United and Watford are the two Premier League sides interested while several other Championship sides are monitoring his situation at Manchester United.
That said, it remains to be seen if Phil Jones will want to keep playing out his career at Manchester United or he will be interested in a move elsewhere when the transfer window opens.
