Chelsea has increased their pursuit of former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku. The Blues were interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Erling Haaland but were unable to do so. Chelsea has made a sizable contract offer to Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku to re-sign him.
Chelsea reportedly offered Lukaku a salary of more than €10 million (£8.5 million) per season and was willing to pay Inter €130 million (£110.6 million) to sign him. The Blues also attempted to sign Ajax midfielder Erling Haaland but were unsuccessful.
The Belgian international expressed his desire to remain in Rome and refused to continue talks with his former club.
Inter Milan has signed Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to a new contract. In the summer of 2019, the former Chelsea and Everton striker was sold to the Serie A side for €74 million (£63 million). Lukaku joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011, but only appeared in 15 games before joining West Brom on loan.
The Belgian made his big move to Manchester United after three productive years with Everton. Chelsea allowed Romelu Lukaku to leave Stamford Bridge in a £28 million deal.
Since leaving Chelsea, the former Chelsea striker has scored 64 goals in 95 appearances for Inter. Lukaku says he is now completely focused on the upcoming season and hopes to do even better than last year.
Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has stated that the club will not allow striker Romelu Lukaku to leave the Serie A club. Last week, Inter was forced to sell Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain in a €60 million (£51.3 million) deal.
The Italian giants are also hesitant to let any other players leave. Inter Milan has signed former Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi to a two-year contract.
The Italian midfielder was in charge of Lazio for five years and won several trophies during that time. And Inter signs him as they look for a new manager after Antonio Conte leaves the club.
