There are many Nigerian-born footballers who snubbed playing for Nigeria to play for other countries. So many of them were contacted by the Nigerian Football Federation, but they have chosen to play for other national teams.

Some of them are doing very well for their National teams currently. In this article, we shall be taking a look at some Nigerian-born footballers who are currently playing for other countries.

1. David Alaba is a professional player who played for Bayern Munich most of his career so far. He made a huge impact on the German team as he won almost everything one could win with a club. David Alaba currently plays for Real Madrid of Spain. He is now an Austrian player who plays for the Austrian National team. He is one of the most important players playing for the Austrian National team

2. Tammy Abraham; the former Chelsea striker, is a Nigerian-born professional footballer who was born in England. He currently plays for José Mourinho’s AS Roma, where he is currently banging in the goals as a top nine.

He has chosen to play for England ahead of Super Eagles of Nigeria. Although, he is not one of the top strikers that England has at the moment, but he still snubbed the Nigerian Super Eagles.

3. Bukayo Saka; He is a Nigerian-born footballer who currently plays for Arsenal football club. He is one of the big stars playing for Arsenal football club at the moment. He is young and talented. But he has chosen to play for the English National team over the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He was outstanding for England at the recent 2020 Euro Games.

4. Ross Barkley; He currently plays for Chelsea. Barkley could have played for the Super Eagles as his paternal grandparents were actually from Nigeria, but the Chelsea midfielder did not give playing for Nigeria a thought as he currently plays for the English National team.

5. Dele Alli; He is currently playing for Tottenham. He is a sensational player who could have been a player making the difference for the Super Eagles, but he currently plays for the English National team.

6. Angelo Ogbonna; He is a West Ham United’s defender who was born to Nigerian parents. Ogbonna currently plays for Italian National team.

The question is, do you think these people would have taken Super Eagles to a higher level if they have been playing for the Super Eagles?
