The Analysis Of Chelsea and Manchester United’s Summer Signings

The summer transfer window is about to come to a close as the new season is set to begin. Many English clubs have dived into the market and strengthened their teams, among those clubs are Manchester United and Chelsea.

The two English clubs have spent a relatively large amount of money this summer and can brandish their new signings as proof of this. The new season will show if they have made blunders or conducted good business. Here is an analysis of the English clubs transfer window so far:

MANCHESTER UNITED

The English giants have made 3 first team signings this summer that include

1) Tom Heaton

Tom Heaton was United’s first signing this summer and is expected to provide some depth at the goalkeeping position for Ole Gunner Solksjaer’s men. Heaton who is 35 years old is from England and will take the number 22 shirt.

The goalkeeper has not made much of an impact in his former clubs and is expected to be no different at United as he was signed to deal with problems that may arise if David De Gea leaves.

2) Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho was United’s second first-team signing of the summer. The English man who started his career at Man City left to Borussia Dortmund and solidified himself as a powerhouse in world football. Providing incredible numbers in goals and assists is just one of his many abilities as his efficient dribbling also sets him apart from many young players.

Sancho’s transfer to United was one of urgency as the club has been without an elite right winger for some seasons now. The signing of the 21 year old is expected to relieve them of the issues they face on the right wing in order for the club to resume playing spectacular football.

3) Raphael Varane

The multiple Chamions league winning player is United’s 3rd signing of the season. When it comes to Varane, his resumé speaks for itself. The Frenchman has won every domestic trophy available to him in Spain to add to his 4 Champions League medals and a World Cup trophy.

The reason for his signing is not far fetched as quality players make a quality team. He is expected to partner with Harry Maguire to form a strong defence capable of challenging for the Premier League title. Although his announcement has not been made yet it seems it is a minor issue that will be resolved soon.

CHELSEA

The London club have been relatively calm during the transfer window most likely due to their Chamions League win. A few signings have been made however and they are analyzed below.

1) Marcus Bettinelli

This was Chelsea’s first signing of the summer and it was met with confusion by Chelsea supporters as Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy provide enough depth for the squad in that position already.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper who has made an appearance for the English national team was signed for free from Championship side Fulham FC.

2) Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku is Chelsea’s second signing of the summer. The Belgian is a former Chelsea player who failed to score a single goal in his time at Chelsea. He has gone on to Everton, Manchester United and Inter Milan since that time and declared himself one of the top strikers in world football.

His signing is expected to solve the issues they face with Timo Werner upfront. The 28-year-old striker born in Antwerp, will be looking to make his name at Chelse and possibly win trophies to justify his incredible transfer fee.
