This is a Lolo Rice Mill located in Kamba, Kebbi State. It was recently established and has the capacity to produce 370,000 metric tonnes of rice.
Kamba Rice Mill is an initiative of a private organization and the Kebbi State Government under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
It is regarded as the Mecca or headquarters of rice in Nigeria because of the excess cheap paddy rice in the town.
The factory supply cheap locally made rice to South West and South East regions.
The rice factory has also created thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for Nigerians living in the state and beyond.
Rice production is now a lucrative business in Nigeria, thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari who revolutionized rice farming in the country.
The president supports farmers with adequate materials that will boost production and also banned the Importation of foreign rice in order for local ones to sell.
Also, thanks to the executive Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, for providing an enabling environment for rice investors to invest in the state. Kebbi State also partnered with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State between 2015 and 2019 to boost the production of rice farming in the country.
There are also many rice factories in southern states such as Ebonyi, Cross Rivers, and others.
Although, there are still little challenges threatening rice farming in Nigeria such as lack of adequate equipment and lack of irrigation. Some of the locally made rice is filled with stones and sand which makes it difficult to consume.
Rice farming has come to stay in Nigeria, Kudos to President Muhammad Buhari.
