Chelsea’s club-record £98 million ($136m) signing from Inter Milan remains in quarantine and he will feature in the club’s opening Premier League match of the season on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

The Belgian will start training with the Blues on Monday in preparation for next Sunday’s clash against Mikel Arteta’s side when he is set to commence his second spell with Chelsea.

“Lukaku is still in quarantine and following the protocols, he will be out on Monday doing the whole training with us next week and will play for us against Arsenal”- Tuchel told reporters.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and head coach Thomas Tuchel had both authorized the pursuit of an elite striker following the squad’s struggles in front of goal last season, and the club’s negotiators turned their attention to Romelu Lukaku when talks over a £135m move for Erling Haaland reached a stalemate.

The Belgian scored 24 times in Serie A last season and assisted ten more as Inter Milan claimed the first Scudetto for a decade, finishing Juventus’ era of domestic dominance.

Boosted by victory in the Champions League last season, as well as a memorable win in the UEFA Super Cup over Villarreal in Belfast on Wednesday evening, Chelsea supporters have the right to feel optimistic ahead of what guarantees to be a sensational campaign in west London.
