Manchester United set to reward Luke Shaw with a new contract. The 26-year-old’s deal runs out in 2023 and United are keen to reward his upturn in form which saw him star for England at Euro 2020. Shaw is due to return to United training this week along with PSG target Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire. The left back will be offered a new deal in the next few months as he is seen as a key part of a project, to get Manchester United challenging for the Premier League title which they have now gone eight years without winning. Shaw featured 47 times at left back under Solskjaer last term in all competitions providing six assists and scoring once. The 25-year-old received rave reviews for his performances with England at Euro 2020 this summer.

James Rodriguez rules out Real Madrid return

James Rodriguez has ruled out ever returning to Real Madrid. The midfielder spent six years at the Spanish giants, though two of those seasons were on loan at Bayern Munich. Rodriguez left the Spanish capital last summer to join Everton, but rumours of a possible return began circulating when coach Carlo Ancelotti left the Toffees to take up a second spell at the Santiago Bernabeu. But the 30-year-old says he is not interested in going back to Madrid. When asked by a viewer if he would return to Los Blancos, Rodriguez said on Twitch: “No, I don’t think so. It is a closed cycle now, which is not going to be repeated.”

Chelsea set to lower Abraham asking price

Chelsea are willing to lower their asking price for Arsenal target Tammy Abraham, according to reports. The England international struggled for game time under Thomas Tuchel last term, with the German preferring to deploy Kai Havertz as a false nine. Chelsea are keen to sign a new striker this summer to lead the line in Tuchel’s first full season at the helm. Giroud’s exit has reduced Chelsea’s options up top for the upcoming campaign, but they still want to sell Abraham in the coming weeks. And according to The Sun, the Blues are willing to lower their demands for their academy product. Arsenal, West Ham and Aston Villa have all registered an interest in the 23-year-old, but none of the clubs were willing to stump up £40m. Chelsea are now willing to accept a lower fee for Abraham as they attempt to raise funds for their own recruitment goals.
