Transfer News: Man Utd Offer Messi €50m Contract, Belgian Top Striker To Return To Stamford Bridge
According to Transfer Podcast, Manchester United are in contact with Lionel Messi’s representatives and have offered a contract of €50m gross before agent fees and signing-on fees. United don’t think they’re as strong a candidate as PSG – who have offered €75m gross over 2 years. “United have already signed Jadon Sancho for £73m from Dortmund and Raphaël Varane from Real Madrid. However, they are now interested in Messi though PSG are leading the way with a much higher proposal for the star player.
Belgian Top Striker To Return To Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are edging closer to completing the re-signing of Romelu Lukaku, according to reports. The Blues had initially explored the possibility of bringing the Belgium international back to Stamford Bridge. With Inter experiencing financial difficulties, Chelsea are confident of getting a deal over the line. According to the Evening Standard, Lukaku is on the verge of sealing a return to west London. Further talks between all parties are taking place this weekend, as Chelsea and Inter look to strike an agreement. The Serie A champions are holding out for £110m, but the Blues would prefer to reduce the fee by offering a makeweight. Thomas Tuchel wants to get Lukaku through the door before Chelsea face Crystal Palace in their first game of the Premier League season next Saturday.
Kounde to Chelsea
Before the Lukaku links began to ramp up, Chelsea did look to be closing in on a move for Sevilla defender, Jules Kounde. Personal terms were even said to have been agreed earlier. However, we have since seen little more fresh news forthcoming on the situation. But Sport Witness, citing Spanish outlet Sport, have now provided an update on Chelsea’s move for Kounde. They explain that Chelsea wanted to sign Kounde by offering Kurt Zouma or Emerson Palmieri as part of a deal but were unsuccessful. They add that Chelsea now have new concerns and have ‘left Kounde’s operation in the background’ and are instead prioritising Lukaku’s move.
