Chelsea football club is better than Manchester United at the moment
This might sound like one of the most controversial topics you will see out there, but you’ll agree that it is common knowledge that the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are English sides who have great history in the top flight, and if you go down history lane, there is no doubting that at all.
But don’t also forget that what Manchester United has is history, and what that does is fade with time, if they keep performing at mid table level. For you to be able to produce trophies and stay on the top echelons of club success, it is important to keep a high enough level to maintain that big club status.
We can’t exactly say that United have done that as they haven’t won a major trophy in almost 8 years (unless the Europa League is categorized as major honors), so there is nothing to suggest that it is a better club at the moment. Clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Ajax et al who enjoy the same status United enjoys in England have been consistently winning major honors. United haven’t.
Chelsea for now is by far a better club, and this is evident in what they have been able to achieve since the last time United won a major trophy. Since 2013, Chelsea have won two Premier League titles, one FA cup and one Champions League trophy. United have won none. If the Europa League is added as a major trophy, Chelsea have won an additional 2 and it means United have won one major trophy in 8 years.
Manchester United deserves the utmost respect, no doubt about that, but they haven’t progressed as much in this space of time, and that does not bode well. There will be scathing attacks for sure that football didn’t start 8 years ago, but the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and Juventus are still referred to as big sides not because of their history but also their present.
Clubs like AC Milan, Inter Milan and Arsenal also have great history but have been found wanting in recent times. Inter Milan just won a trophy for the first time in 11 years; how do you rate them if they’re up and down the table of consistency. Should they be in the bracket of good clubs when discussing in the present? Clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, PSG, Atletico Madrid et al have upped the ante and doing exploits.
There is no better way to put it than to categorically state that Chelsea is a better club than Manchester United at the moment, and there are tons of reasons to back this up. It’s not rocket science.
