This is a fast maturing crop taking only 3 months.It is a hardy plant with little pest attack risk.It grows well in well tilted,fertile soil which is well drained and has enough rainfall.It can also be grown via irrigation incase of little rainfall.The land requires manure before planting and certified hybrid seeds for maximum productivity.


The demand is quite high since market is all over locally or one can do value addition to make soya flour.An acre requires 20kgs seeds and has potential of upto 650kgs.Below is breakdown of costs and returns from an acre;

20kgs seedlings@ 200=4,000

Manure. =5,000

Labour(planting,weeding) =3,000

Pesticides and fertilizers =3,000

Totals =15,000

Returns

650kgs *Ksh 60 =Ksh 39,000

An acre will give one a profit of 24,000 shillings which is whooping 160% profit in a short span of time.

Few ventures can give a return of even 50% or more thus this is a venture to explore going forward.
