English Premier League club-side Watford football club have showered praise on Super Eagles of Nigeria number 1 goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, following his outstanding performance since the beginning of the season.

The Germany-born goalkeeper has been superb since moving to the Netherlands Eredivisie League 2020/2021 season, and he has been able to make himself one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

Maduka Okoye was Fortuna Dusseldorf football club’s third choice goalkeeper before he decided to move to Netherlands, and he was signed by Sparta Rotterdam football club in order to serve as a second choice goalkeeper to Netherlands national team shot stopper Tim Coremans. Okoye was exceptional for the club in his debut game, and he has been able to cement his spot in the team’s starting eleven since then.

The 22 years old was criticized by many people after he was invited to the Super Eagles by coach Gernot Rohr because he was not his team’s first choice goalkeeper, but he was able to handle the pressure, and he has been superb for the team since then.

Maduka Okoye’s excellent performance for Sparta Rotterdam football club made him to be signed by Watford football club last week, and he is expected to join the team at the end of the season.

Watford football club showered praise on Maduka Okoye via their verified Instagram handle on Saturday afternoon, as they posted that;

“He’s been part of the Nigeria team for the last two years or so now, and over that time he’s made some fantastic steps. He moved to Holland from Germany and it’s been incredible to see him take on the responsibility that comes with being a number 1.”

He has established himself as Nigeria national team number 1 goalkeeper

The youngster has been Super Eagles number 1 goalkeeper since 2019 when he replaced injured Francis Uzoho in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Brazil national team in an international friendly match, and he has been superb for the team since then.

He is rated as one of the best goalkeepers in Netherlands Eredivisie League

Maduka Okoye joined Sparta Rotterdam football club from Fortuna Dusseldorf FC of Germany in 2020/2021 summer transfer window, and he was rated among the top three goalkeepers in the league last season. He has also been doing pretty well for the team since the beginning of the season.
