Why Everton’s Defender Is The Best Replacement For Chilwell Amid Transfer Links To Chelsea

Chelsea are believed to be in the look out for a left back, following the injury suffered by English defender Ben Chilwell.

The 24 year old Chelsea left back damaged his ACL sometime last month, in the club’s 4-0 home win against Juventus in the Uefa champions league.

Ever since his injury came up, Chelsea haven’t really been able to find a solution to the vacancy been left by Chilwell’s absence at left wing back.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel has deployed the likes of Marcos Alonso, Reece James, Azpilicueta, and even Saul at left wing back, but none has been able to produce the same results as Ben Chilwell.

As it stands, it’s looking very likely that the blues could sign a suitable replacement for Chilwell when the January transfer window opens in a matter of weeks.

One name that has been linked with the blues recently is Everton and French defender Lucas Digne, as reports has it that Chelsea are monitoring his situation at his club.

Digne who is 28 years of age is arguably one of the best left backs in the premier league, and has all the attributes of becoming even better at Chelsea.

The former Barcelona and PSG star is a modern day full back who is not just energetic but direct and creative in his style of play, which makes him an ideal player for Thomas Tuchel’s wing back philosophy.

I feel that the blues should go all out for Digne in January, as he is a better upgrade to Marcos Alonso at Chelsea currently.

Should Chelsea sign Lucas Digne, or keep faith in Alonso?
